The Bartering System

Bartering

The Bartering system is extremely interesting. It means when you have something that another person wants and they have something that you want. When you are bartering it means that you both have something of equal value. For example, there is a baker who bakes delicious bread. But he needs some wheat to make the bread. He might go to somebody who grows wheat and trade two loaves of bread for 1 bunch of wheat. This is an equal trade. But one day the wheat grower might have a poor crop, so he might demand more bread. In the same way, the bread maker might have to close his shop due to losses so he might say he wants more wheat. This is the bartering system.

The Day I traded My Dad To get back my little sister

The Day I traded my Dad to get back my little sister.

Dear Zia,

Do you want the best companion in the entire history of the world? Are you begging just to have some fun in your so far boring life? I have got a solution for you. Do you remember at school the other day when I told you that I would trade my sister for the fancy slime set, and you agreed? But now, I have got something even better then my little sister. You might be thinking, what sort of thing is this wonder? Well, the question isn´t what is this thing - the question is who is this person. Well, you have to take my dad!!

Boom! I know right! That is not what you were expecting. Well, it’s true and you will want to know when this offer is available very soon. The first thing we need to see eye to eye with, Zia is the fact that my sister it a horrendous companion. You have to agree with me that for your age you probably don’t have much in common with her. You are a 13-year-old girl and she is still six. That means that you are more than double her age. Don’t tell anyone this but some days she doesn´t have a bath!! You don’t want to hang out with that little ball of disaster. Do you? Plus, she doesn’t even know how to swim. And you think that you can have someone who doesn’t know how to swim in your pool people filled house! Hmmm! It looks like you have got yourself in a bad situation.

Bad situations are my speciality. I know exactly how to get out of them. I can help you get out of yours!! But you should not worry about my sister ruining your life. Just give a bit of time….

Ok, time is up!

I will give you my dad and he is, however, a great companion compared to my sister. He is funny, kind, generous and every other nice word you can think of. My dad´s laughing personality makes a popular choice for bargaining. Do not miss out this one time offer!! Oh, did I forget to tell you about my dad´s helpfulness? Well, he is always ready to help people in need and guess what!! He can cook scrumptious pizza!! I know that pizza is your favourite Zia!! My dad also knows how to get out of problems, my sister doesn´t - yet you have her in your house playing with barbie dolls this very minute!!

Zia, don´t worry about this problem of yours. All you have to do is give me my sister and I will give you my dad. As I said earlier, do not miss this one time offer. It´s right in front of you. Grab it while you still can.

Yours Truly,

Emily Windsnap

Dear Emily,

Firstly, I wanted to thank you for your offer. I was writing to you to ask when can this trade be done. I know that your mum would be extremely mad if you trade your dad for your sister, but that is one of the main reasons why I accepted this trade. But let´s get down to business.

I feel like your sister is very old school. She needs a bit more pizzazz. I feel like trading her for your dad would be an extremely good decision. But, there need to be a bit more offers. I think that you should not only trade your dad but your mum as well!! Also, throw in your baby parrot named Kiki in the bargain to. I´ll leave you some time to think about it!!

Yours truly,

Zia Carstairs

Dear Zia,

The answer is NO!!

The Story of the Wolf

The story of the wolf

This tale is about a Wolf. Not just any ordinary wolf though. A gigantic, petrifying wolf whose eyes were deep and his blood-covered teeth were razor sharp. He eats whoever and whatever his eyes meet! I would be careful if I were you. Who knows where he is right now and who his next victim is.

Do you dare to read on?

If not skip this story.

If you are, continue reading.

It all started in a deep dark wood. In the daytime, the people of Kilting Village were known to go around the wood or run away. At night, it was known to be haunted. You might think that there is no such thing as a ‘haunted’ wood, but if you were there then you would be rethinking your idea. The wood was on top of Kilting mountain. Kilting village was just by the foot of this mountain. In the woods, there was a creature. A gigantic petrifying creature whose eyes were deep and his teeth were razor sharp. Sound familiar? You are correct - these features belong to The Great Wolf Of Hollow Wood.

One night, when the moon was full and shadows lurked about. It was very quiet at Kilting Village. Only very few street lamps were lit. And only very few creatures were about. One of these creatures was The Great Wolf Of Hollow Wood. His rough fur stuck out like a porcupine and his eyes were the deepest green. Green, greener than green, greener than the greenest green. In short, they were green. Along with his dark grey complexion, this creature was known throughout the world!! His teeth stuck out like fangs and glistened in the moonlight. They had blood stains dripping from the teeth’s points from his meal before. A nice juicy rabbit was his afternoon tea. The poor thing had no chance from this MONSTER WOLF!!

Today was like no different for the wolf. It was a full moon so he did what he always does. You might think it’s a bit strange, but if you ever come across with this wolf I wouldn’t ask if I were you. As usual, he climbed up Kilting mountain and as usual, he made his way to his cave. So what was the strange thing about this regular procedure? Well, you’re about to find out…

As the wolf padded silently into his cave where all his belongings were, he knelt down on a soft patch of grass. Not very interesting, I know but then he did something strange. He howled a mournful howl and howled a mournful howl again. This howl echoed across the valley. Most babies in Kilting village began to cry. The Great Wolf Of Hollow Woods howled again but then he walked out of the cave and stalked down the hill. Fortunately, the wolf came down on the other side of the mountain and not towards the village. Kilting village is thankful for that. :)

The wolf´s eyes gleamed in the darkness as he continued to walk down the mountain. His claws made deep marks in the moist soil. When he finally reached the bottom of the mountain, he began to walk away from it; away from the village; away from his home…

Suddenly he came to halt. The wolf stopped in his regular route and sniffed the late midnight air. The wind roughly roared around him. His fur swung to and fro. Quite suddenly, he pounced forward into the bush. One leg in front of the other he sprinted. Slowly getting faster and faster. The wolf leapt over a moss-covered tree stump, still running running running. He bounded across the bush not taking a break to catch his breath. The trees that he passed were shaking as he sprinted around them. The wolf deft paws pushed off the ground and made a flying leap. He landed perfectly on his target. A young newborn fawn. It groaned to his watching mother. What could the mother do? Too late, the wolf had already picked up his prey and stalked off into the darkness. Patiently, he looked for an area to devour his midnight feast. He was already away from his territory and didn’t really feel, in the mood to have a nighttime war. He knew this territory´s owner very well. This creature was a tigress that had two hungry cubs. So the wolf was in stealth mode, silently carrying his prey cautiously through the forest.

He stopped abruptly in his path. He had heard something. It sounded familiar -  like a big orange and black cat. He dropped his prey and circled himself. Sharply gazing at any likely hiding place. He was about to walk away when something punched on him. He smelt this creature. It was that tigress. Definitely HELP´S NEEDED!!

The wolf had a sworn enemy. It was a young tigress. Usually, he had to prepare for a battle. He did have fast reflexes but he was holding a young deer and he had to drop it. But by the time he had let go of his prey. The tigress had already dug her claws into the wolfs thick flesh. He let out a blood-curdling howl. The tiger paid no heed to the wolf´s pain. In fact, she just bit him harder. Then satisfied with her victory she stalked away, deep deep deep into the forest. The wolf was left to die already his famousness fading.

Change Definition:

Change is when something happens because of something else. Change means that you alter something to make it different. It can also mean changing your clothes. Change is when you make or become something different. A person can change to become a good friend or they can become a bad friend. This happens if they are not treated well or are sad because of something. They become better if they try hard to be a good friend and they are treated fairly. You can change to different colours to make a new colour by mixing them together. This can happen because when you mix a light and dark colour it makes a medium colour like violet or lime green.

Anika

Change is when something happens because of something else. You can change something physically and chemically. For example, when you change your clothes in the morning you are changing it physically because you are not actually changing the clothing or you. You’re placing something on to add a material. However, a chemical change is when you are changing something in a more experimental way. For example, when you’re baking a cake, the batter bakes in the oven to form foam-like bubbles. This is happening in a chemical way because you are changing the form it is in. If you replace the clothes with something else like hot oil or a hot fire spark your skin will burn and form a burnt mark on your body. This is changing the physical change to a chemical change. There are other ways to change things like cutting a cake, pouring food colouring in water, adding onions to sugar water. These are all physical changes. Chemical changes are things like, boiling an egg, burning yourself, melting a candle.

The first definition is when I didn't know much about change. The second is when I had learnt more about it and I knew more
