The Race - descriptive writing

 The Race

Rushing past the thick crowd, the athletes splatter clumps of pulpy mud around them. They are fast. Like a stampede, the crowd ROARS and applauds loudly to their fellow runners. The kids are only focusing on the Friday afternoon race; trying to lead themselves to victory!!

The colossal crowd crams their way to the front to watch the breath-taking race. The stone-faced athletes are cheetahs as they leap over the weather-beaten hurdles. Tightly, the attentive, deafening audience shivers in the heavy, sudden wind, so they have to cross their arms. As graceful as a swan, the autumnal trees in the background sway gently in the breeze, it´s leaves dancing. Swiftly running on a field mushy masses of mud carpet the children´s vibrant trainers. Satisfied with all the going ons, the sideline supporters begin to chatter excitedly. One by one the contenders, who were speeding faster than ever with all the commotion, cross the finish line, their sullen expressions breaking into smiles. I would love to be in sprinter´s shoes, having the glory of passing the final cut. All in all, it has been a great day.
