 My Tour of Aotearoa


Paeroa

Paeroa, located near the top of the North Island. Paeroa´s full name is Te Paeroa O Toi Te Huatahi. The place itself is named after O Te Te Huatahi. He named many places around Aotearoa. Paeroa is known for the famous drink L&P. L&P stands for Lemon and Paeroa. It is also known for its long mountain ranges. 


Papatoetoe 

Papatoetoe is located on the north island. It is placed in South Auckland. Papatoetoe used to be a popular tourist trading spot. It is named after one of its native plants - Toetoe. Papa meaning the flatlands where the flower grows and Toetoe meaning the plant. Te Aakitiai Waiohua was the Iwi that lived there. Papatoetoe has a lot of history!


Taranaki

Taranaki is located in the east of the North Island. It is named after the mountain - Mount Taranaki that is famous throughout Aotearoa. Taranaki was once called Pukeonaki Pukehaupapa. Then after a while, It became known as Taranaki. The story is an ancient Maori legend called the Battle Of The Mountains. But the mountain was named after a tribe leader - Rua Taranaki.
